From Rabbani Economy, For Better Prosperity – Seventeseas 2018

On November 14-17, 2018, students from the Faculty of Economics and Business from all majors went to Brawijaya University, Malang to become delegates for the competition. The competition was called Seventseas ( Sharia Economic Event South East Asia ). There were two types of competitions: scientific papers and business plans. Five UNAIR teams participated in the LKTI and the business plan . Each team consisted of three people, but due to several students being unable to attend, only 16 people were able to participate in the competition.

The series of events included a technical meeting on November 14, 2018. The following day, November 15, 2018, there were paper and business plan presentations. On November 16, 2018, there was a field trip to Eco Green Park and Brawijaya souvenirs, and the An-Nur Batu Mosque. On November 17, 2018, there were national and international seminars.

We gained a wealth of knowledge, and we also learned from our colleagues who helped build and motivate each other toward positive change. We gained a significant amount of knowledge, particularly regarding Islamic philanthropy and its role in realizing the maqasid sharia (Islamic principles). Zakat, infaq, shadaqah, and waqf instruments have been shown to positively impact community welfare when managed effectively by both the private sector and the government. We were delighted to participate in the competition, even though only one team managed to secure third place.
