To prepare Vocational High School graduates to be ready to work and create employment opportunities after graduating from school, Master of Management students from the E2M class of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga Surabaya, held an entrepreneur workshop at SMK Negeri 1 Surabaya.
Not only does it provide material to prepare someone to become an entrepreneur, this activity also equips students how to find business solutions, and solutions to every business problem. "This activity is an implementation of student activities, so that students can make decisions when they return to their organizations, so that they can benefit not only their companies, but also their environment. Like now, these students are sharing knowledge with their juniors," explained Dr. Tri Siwi Agustina as the supervising lecturer. "Vocational high school students were chosen for this activity, because vocational high school students become graduates who are ready to work, of course they must be given the spirit of entrepreneurship, so that when they enter the world of work, these students have creativity and innovation in carrying out their work, with all the risks," she added.
Meanwhile, according to the Committee Chair, the entrepreneur workshop, themed "creating shared value," aims to help students develop their knowledge of entrepreneurship. "One of our commitments is to foster an entrepreneurial spirit in these young people, so they will be ready to face the world after they graduate," explained Muhammad Ridwan, the Committee Chair for this event.
This activity is not only packaged in the form of a seminar. Several discussion forums divide each group of students, assisted by supervisors from management master's students as mentors, to solve problems faced in the world of entrepreneurship. "So the activity is not just a seminar, there is also a provision of knowledge, and we try to hold discussion group forums, as a form of practical implementation of the knowledge that has been previously acquired," he added. The majority of students are young entrepreneurs, making this activity not only merely providing theoretical material, but these students also share their experiences in the business world, from starting a business, solving problems faced during business, to product packaging and marketing with students. "The material we provide is not only theoretical, especially since on average we are students are also entrepreneurs, so our experiences from being involved in the business world are transferred to the students, including facing challenges and their solutions," he added. Meanwhile, this activity received extraordinary appreciation from the students, and the students were also quite interested in the experiences shared by their seniors, so that the students were encouraged to become entrepreneurs in the future. "As students, this activity is very happy to be able to learn and play with these senior students," explained Divya Sifa, a student at SMKN 1 Surabaya, one of the workshop participants. This activity also inspired the students, especially seeing the success of the management master's students, who were considered successful in terms of education, but also successfully developed their entrepreneurial talents. "Of course, it was very inspiring, and our mindset changed, from those who previously graduated wanting to go straight to work, with this activity, we started thinking about starting our own business, so that we can help others, and can help the government to create jobs in the future," she concluded.
