8th International Conference and Ph.D. COLLOQUIUM FOR ECONOMICS AND BUSINESS (8th ICEB) "Sustainability in Social and Economic Community"

iceb 2024 feb unair(FEB NEWS) “Moving Forward Together for Indonesia,” was the message from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) in an interview during the 8th International Conference and Ph.D. Colloquium for Economics and Business (8th ICEB) which will be held for the next two days at the Fadjar Notonagoro Hall, FEB UNAIR. With the theme “Sustainability in Social and Economic Community,” the event highlights sustainability in the social and economic community (October 30-31, 2024).

This year's ICEB was supported by several universities as Co-Hosts, including Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University, Serang, Banten, FEB, Riau University, Trunojoyo University, Madura, Palangkaraya University, Bengkulu University, PGRI Madiun University, Papua University, and Ganesha University of Education, Bali. The event was opened by UNAIR Vice Rector II, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, M.Si., M.Fin., with UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE, MT, Ak., Managing Director of PT Pelindo Putut Sri Muljanto, Executive Director of Finance LPS Danu Febrianto, and Chairperson of the OJK Audit Board Sophia Issabella Wattimena, SE., MBA., CA as keynote speakers.

The 8th ICEB presented three main activities in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: Ph.D. Colloquium, Research, and Community Development. In the Research session, 150 of the 200 registered papers passed the selection for presentation. This event also invited seven speakers from eight countries, including Prof. Dr. Johnny Jermias (Simon Fraser University, Canada); Ass. Prof. Heli Wang (Lee-Kong Chan School of Business, Singapore); Prof. Elif Cepni – Karabuk University, Turkey; Prof. Philip Linsey (University of Western Australia, Australia); Prof. Anu Rommohan (the University of Western Australia, Australia); Prof. Zulkefly Bin Abdul Karim (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Malaysia); Asst. Prof. Murat Yas (Marmara University, Turkey).

In addition to research publications in international journals, ICEB encourages global collaboration in research and development of East Java's MSMEs. FEB UNAIR collaborates with 80 MSMEs for ongoing development and hopes that speakers and lecturers can provide research-based guidance, as part of FEB UNAIR's commitment to developing small businesses that impact the regional economy.

At the end of the event on the 2nd day, the Best Paper winner was announced along with the recipient and publication journal:

3. “Board Size-Independent and ESG Disclosure: Evidence from Non-financial ASEAN Industries” – Presenter: Sendy Dwi Haryanto, will be published in SINTA 2 Journal.
4. “Who Concern More: Green Skepticism and Green Purchase Intention on Gender Perspective” – Presenter: Rika Promalessy, will be published in SINTA 2 Journal.
5. “Improving MSMEs Competitive Advantage and Performance by Adapting E-commerce and Social Media Marketing Based on Technological Frames of References” – Presenter: Ra Nurlinda, will be published in SINTA 2 Journal.
6. “Analysis of Determinants of Underemployment in Indonesia” – Presenter: Magdalena Triasih Dumauli, will be published in SINTA 2 Journal.
7. “Fiscal and Monetary Policy Interactions in Support of Economic Sustainability in Indonesia and Thailand” – Presenter: Julie Ann Q, will be published in SINTA 2 Journal.
