Leadership

This LEADERSHIP course provides undergraduate students with an understanding of leadership concepts/theories at the individual, group, and organizational levels of analysis. At the individual level of analysis, the description and role of leaders, the relationship between individual, group, and organizational levels of analysis, and theoretical paradigms of leadership will be discussed. Furthermore, leadership traits and ethics, leadership behavior and motivation, how leadership can exercise its influence through: power, politics, networking & negotiation; and contingency leadership theories will be discussed. Group leadership will discuss communication skills, coaching, and conflict management; dyadic relationships, followership, and delegation; team leadership and how to lead self-managed teams. Organizational leadership will discuss charismatic and transformational leadership; strategic leadership and crisis and change management; cultural and diversity leadership, and leadership for building learning organizations.
