Overview

This course discusses portfolio management, particularly as it relates to investments in financial assets. The first section will review the background, definition, and objectives of investment, investment alternatives, and capital market mechanisms. The second section will discuss important concepts and theories in investment, including the concepts of return and risk, and their estimation. The third section will discuss the analysis, valuation, and management of bond securities. The fourth section will discuss the analysis, valuation, and management of stock securities. Next, the fifth section will discuss securities analysis, including economic analysis, industry analysis, company analysis, and technical analysis. The sixth section will discuss derivative securities, including options and futures. The seventh section will discuss modern investment theory. The final section will cover investment management and international investment. In addition, the discussion of the various topics mentioned above will be supplemented by discussions of various scholarly articles related to the topics.
