Big Data

The Big Data course is designed to equip Doctoral students in Economics with theoretical knowledge and practical skills in utilizing big data for economic analysis. This course explores how large-scale, diverse, and continuously growing data can be used to support economic research, decision-making, and public policy formulation. The course objectives are: (1) to develop a deep understanding of the concepts, characteristics, and challenges of big data in the context of economics; (2) to improve students' ability to process, analyze, and visualize big data using advanced computational tools and techniques; (3) to integrate big data into economic models to generate insights relevant to academic research and economic policy. Lectures are conducted using a project-based learning method. There is a mini-project that will be carried out as a final assignment for students. Assessment of learning competency achievement is carried out using an assessment portfolio model from several assessment methods according to the competencies that must be achieved by students. In addition, assessment is based on presentation results, active participation in discussions, and mid-term and final exams which will be further regulated by the PJMK.
