Overview
The Microfinance course studies the role of microfinance in providing services to the community in the form of credit services, because its function is a financial intermediary institution with a scope of low-income communities. Credit services aim to increase the productive activities of the community so that they can drive the economy at the lower level, namely micro and small businesses, as well as empowering women to improve household welfare in reducing poverty. Lecture materials consist of global microfinance theories and concepts, microfinance management/administration, service products, financial inclusion support, the impact of microfinance services on micro and small businesses, productive households in Asian countries, Latin America and Indonesia. The final objective of learning Microfinance Institutions is that students are able to identify the role of micro and non-micro financial institutions, and prove the relationship between microfinance and micro businesses in poverty alleviation and calculate the impacts caused in poverty reduction by mobilizing social and economic organizations. The learning method used in lectures is case-based learning, namely formulating problems and solving problems both independently and in groups based on case studies given by the lecturer. Learning is also carried out using the project-based learning method, namely compiling a final assignment determined by the lecturer. Assessment of learning competency achievement is carried out using a portfolio assessment model from several assessment methods according to the competencies that must be achieved by students. The learning process is carried out using a blended learning model with a flipped classroom model. Learning methods include: (1) Synchronous learning through online or offline case discussions for in-depth material; (2) Asynchronous learning through Airlangga University e-learning for independent study using teaching materials provided by lecturers. Mid-term assessment: students compile a paper on a theme prepared by the lecturer. The final exam assignment is to write a paper on the success or failure of microfinance in poverty alleviation, using quantitative indicators.
