Advanced Industrial Economics

This course examines the structure, behavior, and performance of an industry. The ultimate goal of this course is for students to be able to construct and create an industry's behavior based on theory and reality (C4), prove the behavior and performance of an industry (A4), and demonstrate evidence of an industry's behavior based on data (P3). The study material in this course includes the structure-conduct-performance (SCP) paradigm, the welfare consequences of market dominance (monopoly) and company dominance (oligopoly), and public policy on monopolistic and oligopolistic behavior. The learning method used in this course is project-based, meaning students will be able to construct and create an industry behavior model and present it in a scientific paper. Assessment of learning outcomes in this course consists of assessment of the results of discussions, presentations, and papers produced.
