Overview
Tourism Economics is the study of the economic actions of individuals and groups in the tourism sector. This course explores the fundamental economic principles applicable to the tourism industry and the impact of tourism on regional and national economies. Topics covered include the determinants of consumer demand for tourism; the structure of tourism markets; and the benefits and costs of tourism development to host communities. Topics also include international tourism development and economic growth, as well as tourism development planning. Studies of tourism in various countries will also be discussed as special topics.
