Overview
This course describes monetary and banking economics from a macro perspective which includes (1) neoclassical theory of money; (2) neoclassical liquidity trap; (3) the standard new Keynesian model; (4) monetary policy in the canonical model; (5) open economic monetary policy; (6) sources of real rigidities; (7) phillips curves in menu cost models; (8) financial intermediation theory; (9) financial intermediation and crises, financial fragility; (10) financial markets, information, and real investments; (11) credit cycles; (12) shadow banking; (13) short term debt and incentives in banks; (14) coexistence of deposits and lending/maturity transformation
