Overview
This Economic Modeling course discusses analytical tools in quantitative form based on economics and mathematics. The topics discussed in this course emphasize the application of mathematics through economic models. The scope of this course material is efficiency and productivity which consists of the concept of measuring efficiency and productivity, the differences and similarities of measurement models with DEA. In addition, optimization theory with the MCDM/Goal Programming method and decision-making theory with the AHP (analytic hierarchy process) method are also discussed. Finally, this economic model course concludes with material based on general equilibrium models, namely the IO (input-output) model, the SAM (social accounting matrix) model, and the CGE (computable general equilibrium) model. The learning process for this course is organized in a blended learning with a flipped classroom model, namely using synchronous learning methods through direct face-to-face either online or offline for the case discussion process for in-depth material, and asynchronous learning through Airlangga University e-learning for independent learning of teaching materials provided by the lecturer. Lectures are conducted using a project-based learning method, which involves reviewing data and journals and compiling the results into project materials and presentations. Assessment of learning competency achievement is conducted using a portfolio assessment model utilizing several assessment methods tailored to the competencies students must achieve. Assessment is based on assignments, project assignments, presentations, midterm exams, and final exams.
