Natural Resources & Environmental Economics

This course examines the application of microeconomic concepts to the sustainable management of natural resources and the environment at local, regional, and global scales through various economic policies. In this regard, the course provides an in-depth understanding of the theories and concepts underlying how economic and business activities influence environmental and natural resource management issues. It also covers how environmental and resource management issues influence economic development—and how the two complement each other without compromising a sustainable relationship.

This course essentially addresses natural resource and environmental issues, externalities and market failures, policy instruments, economic models for natural resource management (renewable and non-renewable) and the environment, and economic valuation.
