Overview
Lectures are conducted using two methods. The first is a classical lecture on understanding various theories related to international trade policy. This method is conducted from the first meeting until just before the midterm exam. The second method (after the midterm exam) involves designing the class by providing students with the opportunity to prepare and present structured papers on selected topics and discussion materials in front of the class in groups. This is done to provide students with the opportunity to develop their writing skills, present papers, and defend/test their understanding of various empirical experiences occurring both in various countries and domestically. Topics covered include global economic development, macroeconomic equilibrium models (IS-LM and AD-AS), expectations, macroeconomic policies, both fiscal and monetary, economic growth, inter-island trade, inter-regional trade, and a review of central and regional regulations related to inter-regional trade.
