Abstract

Indonesian family and Malaysian family company. This research has two research objects. First, the Founder, who since the founding of the company until now is still actively serving as CEO, and the descendants of the founder (Descendants) who serve as CEO. This research uses ROA as a measurement of company performance. The research results are as follows: (1) The Founder CEO of Indonesia has a negative effect on ROA, the age of the Founder CEO of Indonesia has a negative effect on ROA, and the education level of the Founder CEO of Indonesia has no effect on ROA. (2) The Malaysian Founder CEO has a positive effect on ROA, the age of the Malaysian Founder CEO has a negative effect on ROA, and the education level of the Malaysian Founder CEO has no effect on ROA. (3) Descendants CEO Indonesia has a positive effect on ROA, the age of Descendants CEO Indonesia has a positive effect on ROA, and the education level of Descendants CEO Indonesia has no effect on ROA. (4) Descendants CEO Malaysia has a positive effect on ROA, the age of the Descendants CEO Malaysia has a positive effect on ROA, and the education level of Descendants CEO Malaysia has a positive effect on ROA. All control variables (company size, sales growth, and debt level) influence ROA.
