(FEB NEWS) Another proud achievement was achieved by a student from the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR). One of its top students won first place in the prestigious 2025 East Java Creative Economy Ambassador Selection, held at the Auditorium of the Ministry of Health's Health Polytechnic in Surabaya on Sunday (May 11, 2025).
This annual event, initiated by the East Java Creative Economy Ambassadors Association, aims to identify inspiring young people with the dedication and capacity to drive the creative economy's potential across East Java. From approximately 150 applicants, 36 finalists were selected through a rigorous selection process, including administrative selection, a written test, and an interview.
During the quarantine period, the finalists participated in various activities, including a visit to the Surabaya BUMN House, the Bu Rudy souvenir center, and presentations on creative economy products from their respective regions. They were also challenged with a motion challenge and a one-minute advocacy speech.
Safrina Putri Indira, a FEB UNAIR student who won first place, revealed that her involvement stemmed from her passion as a young generation to bridge local creative economy players with broader market opportunities. "As a Management student, I feel this event is very relevant. I want to be part of the solution, combining creativity, digitalization, and collaboration to deliver impactful innovations," she explained.
Carrying the advocacy theme ECONOVA (Economic & Creative Innovation for Local Empowerment), the champion designed a series of digital and educational programs. These include Econova Feature (promotional content for MSMEs), Econova Digital Boost (digital marketing training), Econova Visit (visits to local businesses and relevant agencies), and Econova Workshop (training and talk shows with local businesses, such as Runi's Collection).
The active participation of FEB UNAIR Management students in this event not only empowered MSMEs in the region but also strengthened the faculty's commitment to sustainable programs. Through ECONOVA, students helped realize the sustainability values espoused by FEB UNAIR in supporting the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly in the areas of education, poverty alleviation, job creation, and community-based inclusive economic development.
Concluding the interview, he shared his motto for participating in the event: “Awaken Potential, Spread Inspiration.” This motto serves as a reminder of the importance of the younger generation’s role in bringing positive change to strengthen Indonesia’s creative economy, particularly in East Java.
This victory is not only a matter of personal pride, but also brings good name to FEB UNAIR in its role in supporting students to become agents of change that have an impact on society.
