The ELPT Short Course Improves Students' Readiness for the Academic English Proficiency Test
The Master of Accounting Student Association (HMMA) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga is holding an ELPT Short Course as a mentoring program for students who want to improve their academic English skills and prepare for the English Language Proficiency Test (ELPT). This program will be held on June 13, 2026, with the ELPT test taking place on June 20, 2026.
This activity was designed in response to the importance of English language proficiency in supporting students' academic success, both in the learning process, scientific writing, research publications, and preparation for further study. Adequate English language skills are also a key competency needed to face the academic and professional challenges of the globalization era.
During the exam, participants will receive material covering various components tested in the ELPT, such as listening comprehension, structure and written expression, and reading comprehension. Additionally, they will receive various test-taking strategies, time management tips, and practice questions designed to help improve comprehension and confidence in the test.
Through an interactive and hands-on approach, this activity is expected to help students identify areas of weakness that need improvement and gradually improve their English skills. The program also serves as a means for students to prepare for various academic requirements that require English language certification, both at the national and international levels.
This activity not only focuses on improving language skills but also encourages the development of a culture of sustainable learning and prepares students to access global scientific literature. With improved English skills, students are expected to broaden their academic horizons, improve the quality of their research, and strengthen their competitiveness in higher education.
In addition, this activity is in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially point 4 (Quality Education) through increasing access to quality education and developing student competencies, as well as point 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through collaborative efforts in supporting the development of the academic capacity of the younger generation.
As a reflection, the ELPT Short Course is expected to serve not only as a test preparation program but also as a strategic step in developing sustainable academic English competency. Through this activity, HMMA FEB UNAIR is committed to continuously presenting self-development programs that support the improvement of students' academic and professional qualities.
