Abstract
The study aims to examine the influence of each independent variable of transformational leadership style and work environment on teacher performance with motivation as an intervening variable. Data in the study were collected by observation methods based on conditions in the field and interviews with respondents. The analytical tool used in the study was Partial Least Square analysis using SmartPLS. The results of the study showed that transformational leadership style significantly had a positive effect on performance with a T-statistics value of 2.342, transformational leadership style significantly had a positive effect on motivation with a T-statistics value of 2.508, the work environment did not significantly affect performance with a T-statistics value of 0.012, the work environment significantly affected motivation with a T-statistics value of 6.033, motivation did not significantly affect performance with a T-statistics value of 1.474. The recommendations from the study are; (i) Transformational leadership style is important to improve the motivation and performance of teachers at SMAK St Louis 1 Surabaya, (ii) Work environment and motivation variables are proven to have no effect on teacher performance at SMAK St Louis 1 Surabaya, (iii) A comfortable and supportive work environment can improve work motivation, (iv) Further develop the model carried out by researchers by adding other variables that are still closely related, for example organizational culture variables, competencies, or with other indicators, (v) As far as possible, future researchers should conduct questionnaires for PKG (Teacher Performance Assessment) so that later they will get a better instrument.
