Abstract

This study aims to analyze resistance to change based on a multidimensional concept (i.e., thoughts, feelings, and behavior) with communication of change and personal valence as antecedents. This study involved PT BPRS Lantabur Tebuireng as the research object, where PT BPRS Lantabur Tebuireng is currently in the process of fulfilling a change plan. A quantitative approach was used in this study, where a survey was used as a procedure to collect data through a questionnaire. The designed questionnaire was then distributed to 66 employees as research respondents. In addition, PLS-SEM was used as the research analysis method. The results showed that communication of change and personal valence as antecedents were able to predict all components of resistance to change (i.e., thoughts, feelings, and behavior), and communication of change was also able to predict personal valence. In addition, personal valence was able to mediate the relationship between communication of change and the three components of resistance to change. Finally, this study also offers several implications, both theoretically and practically.

Keywords: resistance to change, multidimensional concept of resistance to change, communication of change, and personal valence
