Technological advances change faster, especially with the development of mobile devices. This easy accessibility, when used at work, can have a positive and negative impact. As we know the workplace is an atmosphere where an individual does a job according to his field. Yu et al., (2018) further claims that not all workplaces make it easy for an employee to use a cellphone while working. This is because the company's manager or owner does not want the ease of internet access to hamper employee performance. Basically, people with the same job may have a different level of success when doing tasks (Wisniewski & Dutton, 2011), making their roles in the workplace often different.
A Nucleus Research study found that full access to Facebook at work resulted in a decline in performance by 1.5%. Individuals who depend too much on social media seem to have negative feelings that can ultimately increase techno-stress and trigger a decline in performance (Brooks, 2015). This is in accordance with Yu et al., (2018), which noted that the decline in performance was mostly caused by social media fatigue. Yu et al., (2019) said this condition arose when an employee used excessive social media during working hours. As a result, employees cannot work efficiently and optimally. This is also in accordance with Lee's research (2016), which notes that when someone receives information that exceeds his ability, they may feel out of control and experience fatigue on social media. Social media fatigue is not only influenced by excessive information, but also by excessive communication (Zhang et al., 2016). The study shows that there will be contact that is considered unnecessary when someone interacts and speaks continuously, or in terminology, the idea is called excessive communication.

Therefore, employees have more potential to experience social media exhaustion.
