Abstract
The purpose of this study is to examine and explain the influence of financial literacy, attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on the investment intentions of prospective investors. The conceptual framework is based on the theory of planned behavior. Using quantitative methods, this study recruited 297 respondents selected through random sampling. The respondents were students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Muhammadiyah Malang, who had taken financial management courses. Two analytical techniques were used to test the obtained data: factor analysis and multiple linear regression. Based on the analysis and hypothesis testing, the results showed that all four proposed hypotheses were accepted. The results showed that subjective norms had the greatest positive and significant influence on investment intentions. Based on these empirical findings, the researchers in this study identified theoretical and managerial implications. Theoretically, this study contributes to the development of knowledge related to investment intentions, explained by factors from the adopted basic theory. Practically, this study offers a useful perspective for prospective investors in making investment decisions now and in the future.
