Abstract

As a crucial role in human resources, employee engagement is a key factor in a company's competitive advantage. The challenge facing companies to survive in today's industry is how to enhance engagement behavior through social exchange relationships, one of which is the practice of justice. The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between distributive and procedural justice and employee engagement, with psychological contract fulfillment as a mediating variable. This study uses quantitative data collected using a questionnaire using partial least squares (PLS) to analyze the data with SmartPLS software, administered to 52 employees at PT. Karmand Mitra Andaman, a chemical manufacturing and services company. The results of this study indicate that distributive and procedural justice have a significant positive relationship with employee engagement, while psychological contract fulfillment only mediates the relationship between procedural justice and employee engagement. Implications regarding organizational function are also discussed in this study.

Keywords: distributive justice, procedural justice, employee engagement, psychological contract fulfillment.
