Abstract

Graphichapter, a creative design agency in Surabaya, faces the problem of increasingly fierce competition in the creative business environment and ineffective and inefficient human resource management, which impacts the company's growth. The problem that occurs in graphichapter lies in the management of human resources, namely designers. Designers have unique characteristics and are not like employees in general, designers have a way of behaving that is not much different from artists, not wanting to be restrained, not disciplined and several other traits that are not in accordance with company management. These unique behavioral characteristics of designers make it difficult for graphichapter management to monitor designer performance and difficulty in designing a management system that suits their behavior. The aim of this study is to identify the behavioral patterns of graphichapter designers, which will be a reference for the company in designing people management in activities and working proportionally and more professionally. This study uses a qualitative method approach with a case study method, because it aims to design KPIs (key performance indicators) based on the behavioral patterns of designers at graphichapter. The results of this study have identified 22 designer behavior patterns which then become the basis for designing KPI (key performance indicators) for designers, which have been linked to the needs of designer job descriptions and company targets. This performance measurement uses 6 measurement dimensions, namely quality of work, timeliness, initiative, cooperation, personal qualities, and creativity. Thus, designers can work comfortably and proportionally according to the company's KPIs that have been designed and for management itself, they can monitor designer performance and determine strategies that will be used to win the competition.
