Suaramuslim.net – Many people say that life is a competition, which is why television shows like American / Indonesian Idol , Miss Universe / Indonesia , the Indonesian Dangdut Contest (KDI), and other auditions have emerged. These shows are essentially miniature models depicting everyday life. In these miniature forms, the winner is everything, while the loser is simply a loser.
In everyday life, competition is also evident when we seek schools for our children, jobs for ourselves, and even in finding a partner. Competition even occurs during the conception process (Anwar, 2012):
"Whoever has the "right" to fertilize this egg requires intense competition. The remaining sperm will compete to penetrate the egg's wall. What can be done, elbowing each other for the title of champion occurs."
If we look solely at the process, the statement that humans were created from the beginning to compete fiercely, even to elbow each other, might be true. However, upon closer examination, the fertilization process is not that simple. According to information from Harun Yahya (2007), the following interesting information is obtained:
“Professor Cevat Babuna, former dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Gynecology and Obstetrics, Istanbul University, explains this special design in sperm as follows:
'Sperm cells are made in the father's body. But the function of these sperm is carried out in the mother's body. And since the beginning of the world, in other words, in the history of mankind, no sperm has had the opportunity to return to the father's body after carrying out its task in the mother's body, and then tell the cells that made it what they have done, what difficulties they have faced, or what their task is.
So then, how do sperm cells have a structure so different from all the thousands of different types of cells in the body?
How does the sperm cell know that it will carry the genetic load it takes from the father's body to another body that will then make it live, so that the head part, namely the front part, must have protection?
How does a sperm cell know that it is going to penetrate the cell membrane so that it also carries a number of chemical weapons installed behind its protective barrier?
So, you know that it is impossible for all the structures in this cell, the tasks it performs, the various events it experiences to be a coincidence, that it does them by chance, or that it consciously does all this over and over again. This is the clearest proof of how Allah, the Creator, has given it this task, and how it carries it out in the most perfect way.'
The astonishing design of the sperm itself is a miracle of creation. Approximately 250 million sperm are delivered to the mother's womb at any one time. This number is deliberately high because, as soon as these sperm enter the mother's body, they face mortal danger. A concentrated acidic mixture exists within the mother's reproductive organs that inhibits bacterial growth. This acidic mixture is also lethal to sperm. Within minutes, the uterine wall is covered with millions of dead sperm. A few hours later, most of the 250 million sperm will be dead. This acidic compound, which is vital to the mother's health, is so potent that it easily kills all sperm entering the uterus. In this event, fertilization would not occur, and the human race would become extinct.
"However, God, who created sperm, also created safeguards against the dangers they might encounter in the mother's womb. While sperm is being produced in the father's body, an alkaline compound is added to the fluid containing the sperm. This compound reduces the acidity in the mother's womb. As a result, some sperm can successfully enter the mother's womb and reach the entrance to the fallopian tubes."
Based on the above description, the fertilization process is not one of cruel, deadly competition. Millions of sperm die to ensure a safe journey for other sperm, ensuring they reach their destination safely. Thus, the fertilization process involves mutual support to achieve its goal.
Therefore, in life, we should not engage in deadly competition. We should instead help each other achieve shared goals and happiness. Even if competition does occur, it should be about competing to do good for each other. This is in accordance with the following statement in Surah Al-Baqarah: 148:
“ So compete (in doing) good. ” (QS Al Baqarah: 148)
Life is not about 'Competing' but 'Co-existing' or even 'Co- creation ', that's what makes our life beautiful .
