Assess the issue of the Dual Role of Women, Muslims Mosaic Feb Unair Encourages Muslim Work-Life Balance

(MOSAIC NEWS) — In an effort to raise awareness of the importance of balance between professional and personal life for Muslim women, the MOSAIC Muslim Women's Department of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) in collaboration with the SKI Muslim Women's Department of the Faculty of Vocational Studies, UNAIR, held a Routine Muslim Women's Study entitled "Work-Life Balance: Is It Possible to Succeed in Career and Family at the Same Time?" This activity was held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at The Gade Creative Lounge, FEB UNAIR, 3rd floor. The study presented Umma Dhyna, an alumna Universitas Airlangga, as a resource person, who explained the challenges and solutions for Muslim women in carrying out dual roles—as professionals and maintainers of harmony in the family. This study is open to the public, especially aimed at Muslim women in UNAIR who are facing dilemmas regarding the balance of domestic and public roles.

In her presentation, Umma Dhyna emphasized that Islam does not limit women's roles to the domestic sphere. Instead, women's contributions in the professional sphere are still appreciated as long as they align with Islamic values. She also criticized the secular-capitalist system that makes material possessions the benchmark for happiness, and emphasized the importance of the state's role in ensuring the welfare of the people, including the fulfillment of women's rights comprehensively. The Muslimah Routine Study Program is not only a space for reflection and education, but also a means of empowering Muslim women to remain productive, balanced, and competitive without losing ground on Islamic sharia values. This activity is a concrete example of collaboration across student organizations in expanding access to quality, inclusive education for women, while supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 5 (Gender Equality).

Through this activity, MOSAIC Muslimah hopes to strengthen individual capacity and encourage the strengthening of a Muslim community that is empowered, open-minded, and ready to contribute to community development.
