R-STUDIO WORKSHOP: Complete Peel Hayes Regression Mediation Model (Model 4)

(Hima PDIA News) Wednesday, June 18, 2025-Student Association of the Doctoral Program of Accounting Sciences Universitas Airlangga (Hima PDIA UNAIR) successfully held a R-Studio workshop titled "Quantitative Research with Hayes Regression Mediation Model (Model 4)" . The activity that took place in a hybrid on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at 08.30 to 12.00 WIB, took place in the Mindrowo Hall, Feb Unair, and was also followed online through the Zoom Meetings.

This workshop presents Dr. Mahsina, SE., M.Sc, Lecturer at the University of Bhayangkara Surabaya as well as an alumni of the FEB Unair Accounting Doctoral Program, as the main resource person. In the presentation session, Dr. Mahsina explained in depth about the Hayes approach in regression-based mediation analysis, especially the use of macro process in R-Studio software for the 4 (Simple Mediation) model. The Hayes approach developed from the work of Andrew F. Hayes (2022) is a modern method that is very relevant in quantitative research. Dr. Mahsina highlighted the strengths of this method compared to the classic approach of Baron & Kenny (1986), especially in terms of accuracy, flexibility, and lack of normality assumptions thanks to the bootstrapping used. "The Hayes method allows researchers to examine complex relationships between variables in a more efficient way, because it does not require residual normality assumptions, using bootstrapping for estimated trust interval, more flexible in detecting indirect effects (indirect effects)." said Dr. Mahsina in her presentation.

This activity is also a practical learning tool for participants, participants discuss directly about the syntax of the use of Model 4 in R-STUDIO, and evaluating the fit model through the R² value. This activity is part of the commitment of the UNAIR accounting doctoral program to support quality research and in harmony with the principle of sustainable development goals (SDGs) , especially in improving the quality of education and development of Indonesian academic research capacity.
