Strategy for Penetrating International Journals

The first session of TTS opened with a presentation by Dr. Astrid Maharani, who explained various important aspects of scientific publication, particularly related to the Cogent Business & Management journal. Some of the key points discussed included:

  • Building an academic ecosystem that supports writing and publication productivity.
    • Determining target journals that align with the author's profile and competency.
    • Using high-standard academic English, including utilizing proofreading services.
    • Structuring scientific writing, from abstracts, research methods, results, to conclusions.

She emphasized that clear data and samples must be systematically organized in accordance with the journal's regulations. Furthermore, research methods must be explained in detail and follow the reviewer's suggestions.

According to him, good research not only presents results but also demonstrates its contribution to the development of theory and practice. To increase the chances of publication, authors are also advised to self-cite articles published in the target journal.

Dr. Astrid emphasized that each individual has different stages and achievements in achieving publication. She also encouraged participants to remain enthusiastic in facing every challenge in scientific publication.

Submit Process and Interactive Q&A

In the second session, the resource person explained the process and stages of submitting articles to the Cogent Business & Management journal, including the required documentation. Dr. Astrid provided live examples in answering each question, providing participants with practical feedback. She also emphasized that a good introduction should present an analysis of the weaknesses of previous research to reinforce the urgency of the research being conducted.

Impact and Contribution for Indonesian Academics

This TTS activity provides tangible benefits for improving scientific publication skills. By improving the quality of academic publications, Indonesian academics' competitiveness at the global level will be strengthened. This also opens up greater opportunities for researchers to obtain research funding and scholarships (No Poverty).

Furthermore, improved access to academic resources is expected to enhance contributions to science and public policy, ultimately having a broad impact on poverty alleviation. This activity also encourages collaboration in scientific research and publication (Partnership for the Goals), by establishing close partnerships between academics, universities, and the global scientific community.

Overall, this activity contributes directly to increasing the capacity of Indonesian academics in writing and publishing quality scientific articles (Quality Education), which will ultimately strengthen the position of Indonesian academics in the international world.
