Prof. Arnel Discusses the Future of Accounting Research at UNIVERSITAS AIRLANGGA

(HIMA PDIA NEWS) June 4, 2025 - HIMAPDIA (Doctoral Student Association of Accounting Sciences) at Universitas Airlangga SUCCESSFULLY HOSTED ACADEMIC FORUM TITLED CONNECT AND CONSULT , FEATURING International Accounting Scholar Prof. Dr. Arnel Onesimo O. Uy From De La Salle University, Manila. Held in Room 605, ABC Building, Faculty of Economics and Business, The Event Carried The Theme "Research Ideas in Costs Behavior, Personal Value Systems, and Cross-Cultural Management."

In His Presentation, Prof. Arnel Emphasized that Accounting Research Can No Longer Rely Solely on Financial Figures. "Accounting is the language of practical business life, and this language continuation to evolve. Research must now address social, moral, and cultural dimensions," He Explained. He Encouraged Doctoral Students and Early-Career Researches to Explore New Paradigms, Including Digital Technologies, Personal Values, and Cross-Cultural Approaches to Understanding Cost Behavior and Organizational Accountability.

The Session Attracted Doctoral Candidates and Academic Staff from FEB UNAIR and featured an engaging discussion. Prof. Arnel stressed the need to redefine accounting research agendas to address modern challenges such as ESG Disclosures, Artificial Intelligence, and Sustainability. He also highlighted the importance of developing new competencies in non-financial communication and cultural interpretation as part of advising financial literacy and inclusion.

This event was part of Himapdia's Ongoing Efforts to Build International Academic Networks and Foster Cutting-Edge Research Dialogue. "We are aiming to encourage doctoral students to adopt fresh perspectives in their research while maintaining relevance to public interest," said one of the organizers.
