HIMA PDIA UNAIR HOLDS ACADEMIC SHARING & CONNECT FORUM

(HIMA PDIA NEWS) Surabaya, September 16, 2025 – The Accounting Science Doctoral Student Association (HIMA PDIA) Universitas Airlangga held an Academic Workshop & Connect Forum on Tuesday, September 16, 2025, at the Fadjar Notonegoro Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga. The event took place from 08.00–13.00 WIB and presented an inspiring forum aimed at academics and doctoral candidates who wanted to understand the accelerated pathway for Chartered Accountant competency recognition from the Indonesian Institute of Accountants (CA-IAI) as well as strategies for achieving timely doctoral graduation.

This forum featured speakers from across generations from UNAIR's Doctoral Program in Accounting (PDIA), who shared practical insights, professional networks, and academic motivation. The sessions were interactive, featuring presentations, questions and answers, and experience sharing, combining technical knowledge with relevant field insights for academic and professional development in accounting.

In the first session, Dr. Sigit Kurnianto, SE., MSA explained the CA-IAI competency recognition mechanism, starting from competency equivalency mapping, document requirements, test schemes, to acceleration strategies for lecturers and practitioners. The next session, titled Tips & Tricks for Graduating Your Doctorate on Time, was guided by PDIA UNAIR alumni, namely Ms. Saarce, Ms. Frizka, and Ms. Astrid, along with speakers from PDIA UNAIR students, namely Mr. Sendy, Mr. Saiful, and Mr. Zainudin. The speakers shared their experiences in research management, proposal preparation, publication, guidance, and academic ethics. The material was arranged systematically so that participants understood the important stages, starting from problem formulation, methodology design, data management, dissertation writing, to preparation for the promotion hearing.

The forum series was designed collaboratively, combining keynote presentations, case studies, group discussions, and open Q&A sessions. The committee also provided concise materials, reference links, and preparation checklists for both CA-IAI recognition and doctoral study milestones. This provided participants with a clearer roadmap for planning graduation goals, optimizing academic networks, and enhancing literacy in the accounting profession.

This activity affirms HIMA PDIA UNAIR's commitment to building a productive, ethical, and relevant academic ecosystem. The forum is open to academics, practitioners, and students across disciplines who wish to strengthen their professional credentials and research capacity, while also providing concrete provisions for pursuing CA-IAI recognition and doctoral studies.
