HIMA PDIA FEB UNAIR HOLDS COMMUNITY SERVICE PROGRAM FOR VOCATIONAL SCHOOL TEACHERS IN GREATER SURABAYA

(HIMA PDIA NEWS) Surabaya, Monday, November 3, 2025 – The Doctoral Program in Accounting, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga through the Student Association (HIMA PDIA FEB UNAIR), has once again demonstrated its strong commitment to supporting the capacity building of vocational educators through the implementation of the Community Service Program which took place from October 31 to November 1, 2025. This activity took place at the Miendrowo Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga, involving 56 Accounting Vocational High School (SMK) Teachers and Students from the Surabaya, Sidoarjo, and Pasuruan areas.

This program is systematically designed to facilitate knowledge exchange between academics and professional practitioners in the fields of accounting and taxation. Through this forum, participants not only gain a theoretical understanding of the integration of accounting and taxation systems in Indonesia but also gain practical insights that can be applied in the learning process at vocational schools. This initiative reflects the spirit of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga , in strengthening its contribution to the development of superior and competitive human resources in the knowledge-based economy era.

This activity presented two experienced speakers, namely Imam Agus Faisol, SE, M.Ak., BKP, and Andy Setiabudi, SE, S.Th., M.Ak., CMA, Ak., CA., ICPM., CBV., BKP., CERA., ACPA., who each have a strong professional and academic track record in the fields of accounting and taxation. Through interactive, applicable, and contextual delivery of materials, the speakers discussed two main topics that are highly relevant to the needs of current vocational education, namely "Tax Accounting: Understanding Its Essence, Integration of Accounting and Taxation in Indonesia" and "The Right and Simple Way to Understand Indonesian Taxation." Both topics emphasize the importance of integration between accounting theory and the application of national tax policies in real practice.

With a case study-based approach and open dialogue, this activity helps teachers and students understand the substance of taxes comprehensively, while simplifying complex concepts into teaching materials that are easy to understand for students at the vocational secondary level, thereby improving the quality of learning and its relevance to the world of work.

This program is a concrete manifestation of FEB UNAIR's contribution in supporting the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), specifically point 4 on Quality Education and point 17 on Partnership for the Goals. Through this international community service activity, FEB UNAIR strives to build the capacity of vocational teachers to have more comprehensive and applicable accounting and tax literacy. This activity not only broadens academic insight but also strengthens the synergy between the world of education and professional practice. With a collaborative approach, the university encourages the creation of an inclusive, sustainable, and adaptive educational ecosystem to global change, thus being able to support the transformation of competency-based learning in the fields of accounting and taxation in Indonesia.
