(HIMA IE NEWS) Surabaya, July 5, 2025 — The Undergraduate Economics Student Association (HIMA IE) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga successfully held the 2025 Economics Creative Lab (ECL) Webinar as the opening event for the Department of Student Welfare's annual training series. The webinar was held online via Zoom Meeting on Saturday, July 5, 2025, starting at 8:30 a.m. WIB, with over 150 participants from various institutions.
This activity aims to improve data literacy, analytical skills, and information visualization skills among students, particularly in responding to the increasingly complex needs of the digital economy. With the theme of mastering tools such as Microsoft Excel and Power BI, ECL 2025 equips participants with applicable technical skills for both academic and professional purposes.
The webinar was opened by the organizing committee and began with remarks from the Chairperson of the ECL 2025 Executive Committee, Nadia Tri Sundari Sutikno, and the Chairperson of the IE Undergraduate Student Association (HIMA S1 IE). Following the opening ceremony and the singing of Indonesia Raya and the Airlangga Hymn, the event continued with a material session featuring three professional speakers in the fields of digital economics and data analytics.
The first session began at 10:30 a.m. WIB with an introduction to the importance of data analysis in the context of the modern economy. The next session discussed data processing techniques and the effective use of information visualization tools. In addition to the main material, participants also had the opportunity to participate in a talk show and interactive Q&A session with the speakers to deepen their understanding of the topics discussed.
The participants' enthusiasm was reflected in the lively discussions throughout the session, both through in-person interactions and the Zoom chat. As a form of evaluation, the committee distributed a satisfaction survey, which will be analyzed by the Internal Control team to improve the quality of future activities.
This webinar had a positive impact especially in:
- Improve data literacy and critical thinking skills,
- Sharpen basic skills in using Excel and Power BI,
- Add insight into the field of e-commerce analytics ,
- Encourage active participation and academic collaboration.
"Through this webinar, we hope participants will understand the essential fundamentals of data analysis and visualization to equip them for their academic assignments and future professional needs," said Nadia.
As a follow-up to the webinar, participants were also provided with information about the Economics Creative Lab Masterclass , which will be held on July 12, 13, and 19, 2025. This masterclass will be held online and will focus on technical data processing practices and solving real-world case studies, with guidance from experienced mentors.
With the 2025 ECL Webinar , HIMA IE FEB UNAIR demonstrated its commitment to creating a relevant and transformative learning environment for students. This training not only supports participants' academic achievements but also strengthens their capacity as aspiring professionals ready to compete in the ever-evolving digital economy.
