(BEM NEWS) Surabaya, Friday, August 29, 2025 – The spirit of caring and solidarity was once again radiated through the series of Pre-Event 2 Kita Peduli 2025 held by the Community Service Department of BEM FEB Universitas Airlangga. Titled “Spread the Light of Hope: Unite to Ignite Hope, Strengthen the Struggle”, this activity combined a Mini Cake Workshop and an inspirational Seminar with experts and cancer survivors.
The event took place on the 3rd Floor of the Soepoyo Hall, Faculty of Economics and Business, UNAIR, with high enthusiasm from participants, both students and the general public. The event's moderator, Luna Syarafina ( Universitas Airlangga Ambassador & UNAIR Economics Student Class of 2024), successfully led the event with energy and warmth.
The seminar session featured two keynote speakers:
• Prof. Dr. Joni Wahyuhadi, dr. SpBS (K) MARS, founder of the Indonesian Cancer Foundation (YKI) East Java Branch, who shared insights on the importance of social support and health education in the fight against cancer.
• Indah Ratna, a representative of Reach Recovery Surabaya (RRS) and a cancer survivor, who shared an inspiring story about her journey of struggle and never-give-up spirit in facing cancer.
In addition to the seminar, participants also participated in a Mini Cake Workshop, designed as a symbol of sweet hope and creativity in the struggle for life. This activity not only provided practical experience but also served as a way to share joy and support with cancer survivors.
On this occasion, the speakers emphasized the importance of awareness, concern, and real action from the younger generation, especially students, to support the fight against cancer.
This activity is in line with SDG point 3: Good Health and Well-being, with the hope of expanding public awareness about cancer prevention while strengthening the spirit of togetherness in the struggle.
With the implementation of Pre-Event 2, BEM FEB UNAIR further affirms its commitment to igniting the light of hope and fighting for humanitarian values through real actions, that "Small Hands, Big Dreams, Together We Can."
