FEB UNAIR is actively contributing to the FMEI Congress I 2025: Discuss the challenges of foreign investment in the midst of economic transition

Malang, 21-24 May 2025 - Department of Study and Strategic Action of BEM, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB Unair) successfully participated in the Indonesian Economic Student Forum (FMEI) which was held at Brawijaya University. Carrying the big theme "Capital Running In the Middle of a New direction: The reality of foreign investment amid the uncertainty of economic transition policies in Indonesia," this activity lasted for four days, from 21 to 24 May 2025.

FMEI is a national forum that gather BEM from various faculties of economics in Indonesia to act as initiator and catalyst for change in the economic sector. At this congress, as many as 18 FMEI member universities were also present and collaborated in formulating strategic issues, processing data, and compiling policy recommendations aimed at stakeholders.

In the forum, Universitas Airlangga succeeded in proposing and winning the theme raised as the Grand Theme Congress I FMEI 2025. From this theme, FEB Unair gave birth to two strategic study works:

  • Minor study entitled "Election Changed, Profit Moving: Change of Leadership to Rollercoaster for the Indonesian Investment Climate"
  • The major study entitled "Empirical Analysis of Determinants of Foreign Investment Inhibiting in Indonesia: Perspective of Human Resources Capability, Governance, and Infrastructure Readiness"

Both of these studies have been expressed to relevant policy makers as a form of intellectual contribution of students in the process of national economic transition.

In addition, two delegates from FEB Airlangga University received important mandates as the National Presidium:

  • Muhammad Amirul Ihsan (Department of Kastrat) was elected as Kastrat National Presidium
  • Althaf Rijaldy (Department of External Relations) was elected as an external national presidium

Through the FMEI I Congress I is expected to encourage economic interface collaboration from various universities as part of the intellectual partnership for national development. This is a form of FEB's commitment Universitas Airlangga to continue to be part of the driving force of change, by presenting strategic ideas and building concern for Indonesian economic issues.
