(BEM NEWS) Surabaya, June 29, 2025 – The Community Service Department of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) once again presents an inspiring program titled Ruang Abdi Vol. 2: Ekspresi (Emotional and Feeling Education with Ruang Abdi) at Taman Prestasi Surabaya. This activity is a form of commitment to assisting the growth and development of marginalized children through a creative and enjoyable emotional education approach.
In collaboration with the Nurani Mandiri Foundation—a social institution focused on mentoring vulnerable children—Ruang Abdi Vol. 2 targets children in grades 1 to 3. The program is designed to help them recognize and express basic emotions in a healthy way through various interactive and communicative activities.
The children were introduced to a variety of emotions through facial expressions, naming emotions, and role-playing. One of the most memorable moments was the hand puppet show, which brought the educational message to life in a humorous and expressive way. The story captivated the participants and even piqued the interest of park visitors who listened from a distance. Taman Prestasi instantly transformed into a warm and inclusive open learning space.
The participants' enthusiasm was palpable throughout the event. They were actively engaged, curious, and willing to share their stories. The role of volunteers and facilitators was crucial in creating a comfortable, supportive, and child-friendly atmosphere.
Through this program, BEM FEB UNAIR contributes to the effort to provide holistic and empowering education. Emotional education from an early age is a crucial foundation for developing children's social skills and psychological well-being. This program, focusing not only on academic aspects, also emphasizes the values of empathy, meaningfulness, and support for vulnerable communities.
Ruang Abdi Vol. 2 once again demonstrates that students play a strategic role as agents of change. By presenting a grounded and impactful educational space, BEM FEB UNAIR continues to strengthen its contribution to supporting the growth and development of a young generation that is emotionally healthy and ready to face the future.
