(BEM NEWS) In order to provide basic education about the concept of added value in the world of economics from an early age, the Department of Community Service BEM FEB UNAIR held Ruang Abdi vol.1 with the title "Warna Nomi (Wahana Roleplay Nilai Ekonomi)" on Saturday, April 26, 2025. This activity carries the tagline "Raise Your Value with Creativity" and took place at Taman Paliatif, Surabaya. This program was held in collaboration with the NGO Save Street Child Surabaya (SSC.Surabaya), and was aimed at children aged 4th to 6th grade of elementary school who are members of the SSC.Surabaya community. This activity aims to foster an understanding of added value and economic processes in an applicable manner through art media and role simulations.
With a fun educational approach, children were invited to decorate tote bags as a basic product, then participated in a mini exhibition session to present their work like a buying and selling process. At the end of the session, a reflection was held with the facilitator on how creativity can increase the value of a product. This event was also attended by representatives of SSC.Surabaya, the committee of BEM FEB UNAIR, and student volunteers who acted as facilitators for the children's activities. The children's enthusiasm was evident from their active participation in each session, from decorating, selling, to conveying unique ideas about their work.
In terms of impact, Ruang Abdi vol.1 contributes to the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially point 4 (Quality Education) and point 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth). This program is a concrete form of strengthening economic literacy from an early age and empowering vulnerable communities through an inclusive and creative educational approach.
