The KAFILAH event was attended by participants from various backgrounds, ranging from students, academics, to the general public who have an interest in Islamic economics and sharia philanthropy. This activity presented three expert speakers, namely Prof. Dr. Imron Mawardi, SP., M.Si. (Professor of Islamic Economics UNAIR), Imam Muslim, SHI, MM, CMA, CODP. (Marketing & Prodaya Manager LAZNAS BMH East Java), and Moch. Rizqi Aladib (Branch Manager of Dompet Dhuafa East Java and Supervisor of Lentera Yatim Dhuafa Indonesia Foundation). The discussion was guided by Muhammad Khamsya Muzamil, Friendship Ambassador of FEB UNAIR, as moderator.
In her remarks, Ririn Rismayanti as the Chairperson of the Committee, along with Yeni Makrufah as the deputy chairperson, stated that the KAFILAH activity aims to strengthen the academic community's understanding of the enormous potential of Zakat, Infak, Sedekah, and Waqf (ZISWAF) as a strategic instrument in supporting the achievement of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). "Through this study, we want to emphasize that ZISWAF is not only a form of social worship, but also a driver of an inclusive and sustainable economy," said Ririn.
The speakers agreed that ZISWAF plays a crucial role as a pillar of the Islamic economics, capable of creating social welfare and reducing inequality. The material presented covered the basic principles of Islamic philanthropy, effective ZISWAF management practices, regulatory challenges, and the role of amil institutions and the community in strengthening the sharia philanthropy ecosystem in Indonesia. The discussion was interactive, with participants and speakers exchanging views on current issues and opportunities for ZISWAF development amidst global economic challenges.
This KAFILAH activity also made a real contribution to two main goals in the SDGs, namely SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing an inclusive and quality educational space on Islamic economics and sharia philanthropy, and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve the Goals) through collaboration between educational institutions, student communities, and philanthropic institutions such as BMH and Dompet Dhuafa. In addition to increasing knowledge, participants also received e-certificates with SKP, the opportunity to win door prizes, and snacks as a form of appreciation for participation.
Through this activity, KAFILAH FEB UNAIR hopes to become a platform for strengthening Islamic economic literacy and sharia philanthropy among the younger generation. With a deeper understanding of the strategic role of ZISWAF, participants are expected to be able to actively contribute to building a more just, prosperous, and sustainable society in accordance with the SDGs 2030 vision.
