(AcSSES NEWS) Surabaya, Saturday, August 30, 2025 – The Faculty Student Activity Unit (UKMF) of the Association of Sharia Economics Studies (AcSES) successfully held the PILAR 2025 (AcSESOR Scientific Week) activity on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), Campus B. Carrying the theme “Empowering Gen Z: Shaping an Inclusive Future in a Globalized Economy,” this activity became a forum for students to hone their critical, innovative, and collaborative thinking skills in facing the increasingly complex dynamics of the global economy.
The series of PILAR 2025 activities has begun since the registration stage on May 30–July 28, 2025, followed by the Olympic preliminary round on August 8, 2025, the announcement of the finalists on August 10, 2025, and the technical meeting on August 27, 2025. The peak event in the form of the final round will be held on August 30, 2025 and will be attended by all members of UKMF AcSES, with the provision that each team consists of three people from each division.
This year, PILAR 2025 featured three main competitions: Olympiad, Essay, and Business Plan. All activities were free and conducted through online registration. The committee also provided various facilities, including intensive mentoring, activity certificates, and prize money for the winners. The event was led by Aulia Rahma Fadila, the Chief Executive, with full support from the entire committee, and proceeded smoothly and enthusiastically.
Through this activity, PILAR 2025 aims to foster a spirit of achievement and strengthen students' academic culture, while equipping participants with critical thinking and solution-oriented skills. More than just a scientific competition, PILAR 2025 serves as a development platform that encourages students to boldly innovate and contribute to sustainable economic development.
Substantially, this activity supports the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) by providing collaborative and competitive learning spaces, and SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) by instilling an entrepreneurial spirit and competitiveness through the Business Plan branch. Participants are trained to create business ideas that are not only profit-oriented but also based on ethical and sustainable values.
Furthermore, PILAR 2025 is also relevant to SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through its drive for solution-based innovation, and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) through its spirit of collaboration between divisions and students at every stage of the activity. Thus, PILAR 2025 is not only a scientific competition but also a strategic platform for students to make a real contribution to the global sustainable development agenda.
By the end of this activity, it is hoped that a generation of young Muslims will emerge with academic excellence, a global vision, and a commitment to sustainable development based on Islamic values. This activity is a concrete demonstration of AcSES's commitment to developing a Gen-Z that is empowered, inclusive, and ready to contribute to the nation's progress.
