(AcSES NEWS) On Sunday, September 7, 2025, the AcSES Goes Abroad (AGA) event was held online via the Zoom Meeting platform. The event, held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. WIB (Western Indonesian Time), was attended by participants from various backgrounds, particularly students interested in developing their English language skills, global perspectives, and international study opportunities.
This year's AGA event featured the theme "Expanding Horizons: Empowering Students Through Global Education, Cultural Exchange, and International Experiences," delivered by Armanda Dimas Saputra, a Master's student at the University of Tokyo, Japan. In his presentation, the speaker explained his experiences and strategies for securing study abroad opportunities, from the scholarship selection process, developing English skills, to adapting to a foreign academic and cultural environment.
Armanda also shared tips on mental, academic, and spiritual preparation so students can compete internationally without abandoning their Muslim identity. The study session also featured an interactive discussion, with participants enthusiastically asking questions about study challenges, time management, and how to network in a global environment.
This activity not only provides technical understanding of studying abroad, but also fosters motivation for students to broaden their academic and international cultural horizons. This AGA makes a real contribution to two main goals in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): SDGs 4 (Quality Education) by providing an open and inclusive educational space regarding international study opportunities, and SDGs 17 (Partnerships for the Goals) by establishing collaborations between educational institutions, student communities, and global academic networks.
Through this activity, it is hoped that participants will be able to understand the opportunities for studying abroad while also instilling a spirit to contribute to building a superior Islamic civilization, which is globally competitive and based on sharia values.
