Allah SWT said:
"And let there be among you a group of people who call to virtue, enjoin what is good and forbid what is evil, they are the lucky ones." (QS. Ali Imron 104).
Based on this verse, as followers of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) who obey His commands, we should be able to invite those around us to a better path, one that aligns with Islamic law. Therefore, in order to invite those around us to what is good, or what can be called da'wah (proselytizing), a special skill is required to master whatever knowledge we will impart to others.
To support the preaching and the skills of each individual, the PBA (Quran Reading Development) division of MOSAIC FEB UNAIR, held an activity as a forum for friends who want to develop special skills for public speaking, namely by holding an "Islamic Public Speaking" event which took place at the Soepoyo Hall of FEB Unair. The event took place on March 22, 2019 and was open to the public. Attended by internal members of MOSAIC itself, students of the Faculty of Economics and Business, and students from other faculties.
The topic covered public speaking, including introductions in Arabic and English, and prayers. Muhammad Iman R., the 2019 Chair of MOSAIC, presented the event. As Muslims, we must master public speaking, as preachers must also have a way to capture attention.
At the very least, when presenting in front of the class, we can capture attention with good public speaking. "What good is knowledge if it doesn't broaden one's soul, making it act like an ocean that holds trash? What good is intelligence if it doesn't broaden one's personality, making one more able to understand others?"
