National Business Case Competition

The National Business Case Competition (NBCC) is a prestigious annual competition managed by Universitas Airlangga Undergraduate Student Association (HIMA S1 Management) and is part of the Management Expo (MEXPO) sub-event. This competition aims to encourage the analytical and critical thinking skills of Indonesian students in generating innovative and creative solutions to solve business cases in the corporate environment. The 2025 NBCC takes the theme "Driving Innovation: Discovering Opportunities to Encourage ESG Strategy in Developing Business Sustainability," which focuses on the implementation of ESG aspects in building sustainable businesses.

The 2025 National Business Case Competition highlights four SDGs: 4 (Quality Education), 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production). Point 4, or Quality Education, demonstrates how the NBCC 2025 event encourages students to think critically and creatively to solve problems. Quality education is characterized by students' intelligent mindsets and strong problem-solving skills.

Point 8, or Decent Work and Economic Growth, demonstrates how the NBCC 2025 event accommodates all students' creative solutions and ideas for addressing business problems and maintaining sustainable businesses. Sustainable business is one of the keys to driving economic growth and decent work for the community. Students are also expected to increase their productivity by generating new ideas that have the potential to boost global economic growth.

Point 9, Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure, is particularly highlighted in this year's NBCC theme. NBCC 2025 emphasizes the importance of industrialization, oriented not only toward corporate economic growth but also toward ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) aspects. NBCC 2025 also emphasizes creative innovation, which is key to increasing corporate effectiveness and building high-quality, sustainable infrastructure.

Point 12, or Responsible Consumption and Production, is highlighted in NBCC 2025, which emphasizes the use of ESG strategies in a company's production and consumption processes. NBCC 2025 encourages students to find creative innovations in building sustainable companies by increasing productivity effectiveness and efficiency while still prioritizing corporate responsibility towards ESG aspects.

NBCC 2025 consists of a series of Pre-Events in the form of National Webinars and Break the Case! Sessions where participants will gain new insights on effective ways to manage a problem into a new opportunity, as well as a Break the Case! session that will provide general insights on how to master the business case competition. Furthermore, there is also a series of Sub-Events in the form of Company Visits from NBCC 2025 case contributors and One-to-One Mentoring Sessions for Finalists. In addition to these series, NBCC 2025 also has a Main Event in the form of online Preliminary and Semifinal stages as well as offline Final and Awarding Day stages in Surabaya.
With the holding of NBCC 2025 activities, it is hoped that students throughout Indonesia will be able to improve their creativity and ability to think and solve real business problems. Students are also expected to be able to build sustainability by continuing to consider ESG aspects as their responsibility to the surrounding social environment.
