In 2022, the COVID-19 pandemic began to experience a significant increase in cases in several regions, including Surabaya. The peak in cases is expected to continue. This has resulted in many low-income communities experiencing reduced income and even difficulty meeting daily needs. Consequently, many low-income communities require social assistance from various parties.
Community service activities, better known as baksos, are a form of social activity that demonstrates a sense of caring for the surrounding community. These activities can be carried out to assist those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. In addition to helping the community, community service activities also aim to increase solidarity and foster compassion for others.
To help underprivileged communities, Universitas Airlangga Management Student Association (HIMA Manajemen) will hold a community service activity. This is one of the concrete activities of Universitas Airlangga Management students to care for the surrounding community. The community service activity itself is actually a form of our concern and social responsibility to be able to provide benefits to society. Furthermore, this activity seeks to achieve SDGs point 17. We strive to realize sustainable development goals through the involvement of related parties, such as youth, communities, and universities. Therefore, we strive to create activities that can encourage the achievement of SDG point 17 in the future.
This activity is planned to be called Management Cares (M-Cares). In 2022, the Management Student Association Universitas Airlangga strives to implement M-Cares to create activities that can benefit the community and carry out donation assistance activities for those affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. With this spirit of service, it will raise awareness of the beauty of sharing happiness among Management students Universitas Airlangga.
The 2022 M-Cares activity involves fundraising for social assistance to be distributed to underprivileged communities and orphanages. We will distribute basic necessities to orphanages and provide iftar meals for the underprivileged. This activity will be held in person on April 24, 2022.
