ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting Plus China (AFMAM Plus China)

In commemoration of the 31st ASEAN-China Anniversary, the ASEAN Foundation, with the support of the Mission of the People's Republic of China to ASEAN, organized the ASEAN China Young Leader Program (ACYLP). One of its activities is the ASEAN Foundation Model ASEAN Meeting Plus China (AFMAM Plus China), a program to promote and understand the roles and functions of ASEAN and its external partners through a fun yet educational approach, a simulated ASEAN meeting. This program introduces ASEAN and its importance to young people interested in studying international relations and diplomacy.

The program aims to encourage students to delve deeper into ASEAN and China relations, as well as to enhance essential skills and knowledge, particularly on global awareness, cross-cultural skills, critical and innovative thinking, negotiation, public speaking, building insight into ASEAN and its surroundings, and paving the way for realizing a shared vision in making a positive impact on ASEAN and the world. It also aims to promote ASEAN students’ interest in diplomacy in ASEAN and China through authentic, hands-on simulation experiences that include ASEAN Member States (AMS) practices in decision-making addressing regional issues and equip students with essential twenty-first-century competencies.
