THE 7TH JAVA BUSINESS COMPETITION

Universitas Airlangga students participated in the final session of the annual competition The 7th Java Business Competition (National Business Case Competition) held by Telkom University, Bandung on September 27-28, 2018. competition is a forum for the young generation to be creative and get to know various cases in the business world.


Three students representing UNAIR in THE 7TH JAVA BUSINESS COMPETITION (NATIONAL BUSINESS CASE COMPETITION) are Haflan Alfiri Widrayat, Wahyu Rais Agung and Adinda Audrey Noviella, all three of whom are students of the Faculty of Economics and Business class of 2017. The Megamind team, the name of the group representing UNAIR, presented a business case on Forecasting or Business Planning.


Various activities were carried out in conjunction with the competition, starting from a study visit to Bandung Technopark to learn more about the Startup incubator to a quiz about Bandung Technopark itself and the Business World.

The competition announcement, the culmination of the event, was held on Saturday, September 28, 2018, at the Bandung Technopark Hall in Bandung. From a total of 74 business case that passed a series of selections, the fifteen best teams were selected to advance to the final round.

Wahyu Rais Agung, the leader of the Megamind team, admitted he never expected to have the opportunity to participate in the final round of this prestigious national competition. In fact, he was initially pessimistic due to his perceived lack of experience. He and his team developed a forecasting concept using the Time Series Decomposition method, which they felt was suitable for the given case, which involved operations and marketing.

"The idea generation process took about two weeks. Luckily, we were classmates in many courses, so we knew each other's schedules. Also, managing our time was relatively easy," explained Wahyu, the leader of the Megamind Team.

For Wahyu, students shouldn't just study in the classroom. He believes that companies need more than just classroom theory. The various skills acquired during competitions, for example, can unwittingly become soft skills in the workplace. We are determined to continue participating in various competitions to bring honor to Universitas Airlangga . (*)
