GALAKSI (Scientific Writing Festival) 2018 STUDENT SCIENTIFIC ACTIVITY UNIT (UKIM) STATE UNIVERSITY OF SURABAYA
GALAKSI is an annual activity of UKIM (Student Scientific Activity Unit) of Surabaya State University. GALAKSI is a means of developing creative, innovative, and applicable ideas from the nation's children and training students in criticizing and analyzing problems that occur in Indonesia with a rational basis of thought and science. GALAKSI events consist of LKTI for students throughout Indonesia, a National Essay Competition for high school students/equivalent throughout Indonesia, and a National Literacy Talkshow.
This year, GALAKSI has a major theme for its activities, namely "The Role of Literacy as the Relay of National Civilization". For the LKTI theme is the Role of Youth in National Development Through Literacy Towards Golden Indonesia 2045, and for the National Essay Competition theme is Various Creations and Innovations Through Literacy Culture in Realizing a Globally Competitive Generation. And for the closing event, the National Literacy Talkshow is themed "The Role of Literacy for Youth in Facing the Industrial Revolution 4.0".
The National Scientific Writing Competition is attended by students from all universities in Indonesia. The first stage of the LKTI selection is by submitting an Abstract to select the best 30 works, and the second stage is by submitting a Full Paper to select the best 15 works as LKTI GALAKSI finalists and proceed to the next stage, namely a Paper presentation at Surabaya State University on October 27, 2018.
Paper Presentation was held at the Faculty of Engineering, Surabaya State University on October 27, 2018, attended by 15 finalists from UNESA, ITS, UB, UM, PPNS, PENS, UGM, UNAIR, UTM, and UBM. From UNAIR sent 2 finalist teams from the Faculty of Economics and Business UNAIR and the Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR. The delegation from FEB UNAIR were Arintis Wahyu Susanti (Accounting 2015), Retno Wulan Dari (Management 2015), and Zahro Ubaydilla (Islamic Economics 2017).
At the end of the National Literacy Talkshow, the winners of the GALAKSI paper competition were announced as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 1st runner-up, 2nd runner-up, 3rd runner-up, Best Paper, and Best Presentation. UNAIR won 3rd place with its delegation from the Faculty of Pharmacy.
