    The Diponegoro Financial National Competition (DEFINE) is an annual event held by the Economic Finance Study Club (ECOFINSC) at Diponegoro University. This year's Define event carries the theme "Indonesia's Financial Sector Strategy in Facing a Distruptive Business Environment ." This theme aims to explore ideas for strengthening the financial sector in the era of disruption.

There are several stages to determine the winner of this competition. The first stage is abstract writing. At this stage, successful participants advance to the next stage, the full paper . The abstract selection stage will select the top 50 teams to advance to the full paper stage . The full paper will then select 10 finalists.

    The teams that passed the ten DEFINE finalists were 4 teams from the University of Indonesia, 2 teams from Gajah Mada University, 1 team Universitas Airlangga , 1 team from Diponegoro University, 1 team from the Jakarta Institute of Social and Management Sciences, and 1 team from Satya Wacana Christian University. Representatives from Universitas Airlangga were Retno Wulan Dari (Management, 2015), Arintis Wahyu Susanti (Accounting, 2015) and Zahro Ubaydilla (Islamic Economics, 2017). The ten finalists from various universities were required to create posters to be published on Instagram DEFINE 2018. The publication of these posters was intended to introduce the ideas of the ten finalists. The finalist with likes will receive an award as the team with the best poster .

    Next, the ten teams advanced to the final round, which consisted of a case study presented by the Semarang Financial Services Authority (OJK), paper presentations, and a debate. case study presented a solution to a problem previously presented by the OJK. Participants were required to create a mind map for the solution. The mind map was then presented to a panel of judges.

Paper presentation is a presentation of the results of the written work created. Participants are given time to present their work for 8 minutes and then will be responded to by the judges within 12 minutes. The final stage of the DEFINE competition is the debate round, the debate is carried out by all finalists. Previously, all finalists were required to write a debate essay to prepare arguments for the motion that had been given by the committee. During the implementation, 10 finalists were randomly divided into five motions, each motion had a pro team and a con team.

    The finalists completed a series of challenges, and the scores were accumulated. The final results of the competition were: the University of Indonesia won first place, followed by Gadjah Mada University and Gadjah Mada University, while Diponegoro University won the Consolation Prize, while Gadjah Mada University won Best Speaker and Best Poster. The Institute for Social and Management Sciences, Stiami Jakarta, won Best Poster.
