Accounting Championship (ACCHAMP)

 

 

The Accounting Championship, commonly known as ACCHAMP, is an annual competition organized by the Accounting Student Association (HMJA) of the Faculty of Economics and Business, University of Jember. As in previous years, ACCHAMP 2019 is open to students from state and private universities across Indonesia. This event is part of the Jember Accounting Fair 2019 (JAFa 2019) series. The event is designed for accounting graduates who are prepared to work in the accounting field, requiring the skills needed by the workforce. The theme for ACCHAMP 2019 is "Optimizing the Role of the Youth Accountant Generation to Conquer the Artificial Intelligence Era.".

    After going through an online selection process on Friday, August 16, 2019, two representatives Universitas Airlangga successfully advanced to the top 14, selected to continue the main round at Jember University in Jember. On the first day, September 12, 2019, the 14 teams that had advanced to the main round arrived to register and attend the Technical Meeting, which was opened by a speech from the Head of the Accounting Study Program at Jember University.

    The first qualifying round began at 9:35 a.m. that day. This qualifying round consisted of two stages: a choose-the-one competition and a consolidated case study report, to determine the top eight teams that would advance to the semifinals. Universitas Airlangga teams secured sixth and seventh place in the semifinals. The other six teams were three from Perbanas Surabaya, one from Multimedia Nusantara University, one from Widya Mandala Catholic University, and finally, a team from Lambung Mangkurat University.

The semifinal round was held on the second day of the competition. This round consisted of 3 stages, namely moving slide, mix and match, and score gambling, where in this final stage 8 teams will be divided into 2 pools to compete for the final round seat. Based on the draw, the first Universitas Airlangga team with the name of the team "Unair 1" must compete against teams from Perbanas, WM, and Lambung Mangkurat in pool 1, and the second Universitas Airlangga team with the name of the team "Metanoia" must compete against teams from Perbanas (2 teams), and UMN in pool 2. The value of the semifinal round was accumulated from the 3 stages that had been passed. And Praise be to God the two representative teams from Universitas Airlangga were able to successfully qualify for the Final stage, namely the top 5 which were ranked 2nd and 3rd. And the other 3 teams were ranked first by the UMN team, fourth by the Perbanas team and last by the WM team.

After Friday prayer break at around 1:00 PM the final round began. In this round there was only 1 stage, namely the relay essay. Where each team was given a topic about Artificial Intelligence: Cloud Accounting in this stage the team that passed had to discuss a case that had been provided by the committee, and to work on it each team member took turns discussing the case in the form of a powerpoint with each team member having 10 minutes, so the total work was 30 minutes, where the ppt would be presented by each team. After the work was completed, it was time to draw lots for the presentation queue. The Matanoia team from Unair got second place, and the Unair 1 team from Unair got third place.

The announcement of the winners was announced the next day after the end of the National Seminar which was also a series of JAFa 2019 events. Praise be to God Almighty, the two teams representing Universitas Airlangga managed to win. 1st place was won by the Unair 1 team consisting of Patrick Aloysius Wijaya (AKS1 2016), Tanaya Devi Kemala (AKS1 2016), Fince Layadi (AKS1 2016). 2nd place was won by the UMN Jakarta team, and 3rd place was won by the Metanoia team representing Universitas Airlangga consisting of Hari Suciati (AKS1 2016), Thalia Novita Sari (AKS1 2016), Nofika Diana Wati (AKS1 2016).

The competition was a valuable experience and provided numerous lessons for the Universitas Airlanggastudents. Hopefully, this achievement will inspire Universitas Airlangga students to continue giving their best and striving for greater success in the future. Keep up the good work! God bless you!
