TED is an annual event that brings together the world's leading thinkers and practitioners to share important ideas across any discipline—technology, entertainment, design, science, humanities, business, and development, for example. In the spirit of "ideas worth spreading," TED eventually created TEDx, a self-organized local event that brings people together to share experiences, much like TED.
TEDx is a conference that brings together curated speakers to share their inspiring stories. In this event, speakers translate complex ideas into simpler ones so they can be easily digested and understood by a wider audience. TEDx is then expected to become a local forum for ideas within the community that can inspire many people to change their lives, futures, and the world for the better. Based on this, TEDxAirlangga University 2020 finally arrived as the first TEDx event at Universitas Airlangga and aims to share inspirational, creative, and innovative ideas and motivation under the spirit of ideas worth spreading.
This year's TEDxAirlangga University event will be held online. In addition to the online event, TEDxAirlangga University also has a sub-event called "Call for
Essay." This event is held as the first series of TEDxAirlangga University activities. The "Call for Essay" is intended for anyone with creative ideas and concepts in line with the theme, "Reversing the Stereotype."
The event begins with an opening by the MC, followed by the singing of the Airlangga Hymn and Indonesia Raya. Following this, there will be remarks from the committee chair and the 2020 FEB BEM chair. Each video shown will be taken directly by the TEDxAirlangga University Videography Event committee. The TEDxAirlangga University event will be held in several sessions.
In the first session, there will be a video screening followed by a Q&A session with the first speaker based on the moderator's instructions. After the first session is over, there will be an icebreaker aimed at calming the crowd and creating a more comfortable and hype atmosphere. This icebreaker will be in the form of a Gartic game where the committee will draw something and participants will guess what it is. Next, a video screening from the second speaker will be carried out and concluded with a break (ishoma). In the second session, the event will continue with a Q&A session with the second speaker led by the moderator. Then, the event will continue with another icebreaker and a video screening from the third speaker and a Q&A session with the third speaker led by the moderator. Before entering the video screening from the fourth speaker, there will be a game using "Kahoot" to test the participants' focus. After the sub-activities end, the event will continue with a video screening from the fourth speaker, a Q&A session, and the closing ceremony by the MC.
