Humans live side by side with various social and humanitarian issues that demand awareness and real action to create positive change. As students, our role is not only limited to acquiring knowledge, but also contributing to solving existing social problems, one of which is through community service which is part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. The Community Service Department of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga 2025 presents Ruang Abdi, a work program that aims to shape students with a strong social spirit, care for the surrounding environment, and actively provide solutions to social and humanitarian issues.
In its implementation, Ruang Abdi is oriented towards several points of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Addressing Climate Change). Ruang Abdi contributes to supporting access to quality education by presenting various educational programs and disseminating information that is beneficial to the community. In addition, this program also seeks to encourage economic growth by providing support to individuals and communities in improving skills and better job opportunities. Furthermore, Ruang Abdi plays a role in efforts to maintain environmental sustainability by initiating concrete actions that focus on nature conservation, reducing negative impacts on the environment, and increasing awareness of the importance of climate change mitigation.
To realize this goal, Ruang Abdi is divided into two main sub-activities. Community Service Information provides a forum for students to obtain information about community service opportunities through seminars, workshops, and educational publications, thereby increasing their awareness and readiness to contribute significantly. Meanwhile, Volunteering Activities involve students in direct social actions, such as community education, environmental management, and economic empowerment programs, which aim to provide a positive and sustainable impact on the surrounding community. With Ruang Abdi, it is hoped that students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga can be more active in carrying out their role as agents of change, not only in the academic sphere but also in building a more empowered, prosperous, and sustainable society.
