Surabaya – On Saturday-Monday, August 23-26, 2019, seven Universitas Airlangga student delegates participated in the 2019 East Java FoSSEI (Islamic Economics Study Forum) Regional Conference (MUREG). MUREG itself is an annual event for the East Java FoSSEI Regional Conference, which includes an international seminar, the main agenda of the regional conference and the election of the regional coordinator, and concludes with the KSEI Award.
The MUREG held at STAI Syaichona Moh. Cholil Bangkalan this time carried the theme "Optimizing Waqf and Sociopreneurs to Make Indonesia a Center for Halal Industry in the World" at the International Seminar which invited 2 speakers; Dr. Mohammad Mahbubi Ali, SE.I, MEI,. CIFP (Director of Economy Department, International Institute of Advanced - Islamic Studies, Malaysia) and M. Ali Irsyad, S.Ikom, Cht (CEO & Founder of PT. Ijad Group RS). Both speakers emphasized that in starting a business, what comes first is how to make the business being pursued bring benefits and overcome the problems of the people. Meanwhile, affiliation with waqf lies in the allocation of the use of waqf funds for halal and community-oriented businesses, or the allocation of business profits used for waqf and continuously developed so that its value remains intact.

The second day was filled with regional meetings, with the agenda of presenting the accountability report of the East Java FoSSEI Regional Council, electing the regional coordinator for the 2019/2020 term, and selecting the host for the East Java FoSSEI agenda. The elected Regional Coordinator was Vicki Luvian from KSEI FEB, University of Jember.
The third day was the final day filled with a field trip with a pilgrimage to the tomb of Syaichona Moh. Cholil Bangkalan, as well as the KSEI Award. It seems that sending seven delegates on the regional agenda was not in vain because in the KSEI Award, UKMF AcSES received an award as KSEI with the best cadre development. And one of the delegates, Clarissa Fortunela (Islamic Economics, 2018) won 2nd place in Poster Design in FORMASI (re: One of the work programs of the PR Department of FoSSEI East Java).

The MUREG agenda has provided a significant amount of experience, lessons, and networking within the region. In conclusion, the regional agenda serves not only to fulfill its duties but also as a forum for networking and learning from fellow KSEI delegates.
