Upon arrival, we were warmly greeted by the Bank Indonesia Communications Department, complete with a box of snacks. We received two materials, the first delivered by Mrs. Shomita , which was about the central bank. After the second material, our event continued with a group photo and the distribution of food from Bank Indonesia. Then we were invited to tour the Bank Indonesia office, specifically to Building B. Inside the building there is a visitor room that contains a lot of information about Bank Indonesia. Next, after the tour at Bank Indonesia, we continued our next visit to the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises office located on Jl Merdeka Selatan. We were greeted directly by the BUMN office administrator . The visit to the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises broke our stigma about government offices being rigid and bureaucratic. They welcomed us with great hospitality. It was also explained that the system at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises office has kept up with the times, which are sophisticated and innovative, full of demands for creativity. It seems that the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises is holding a large-scale recruitment this year. After explaining the career overview, the session continued with a session on the financial system at the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises. The session closed with a photo session and the distribution of food.
After visiting the Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises, in the evening we went to the TV-One studio located in the Angkasa Pura Building in the Merpati area. Unlike other visits, we went to the TV-One studio not to get material but to participate in a LIVE broadcast of the Indonesia Business Forum event discussing the increase in import taxes. Before the event began, we received refreshments from TV One and then continued with a short briefing from Kak Ano, a representative there. There were 5 speakers present at that time, namely Ngakan Antara as Head of the Industrial Research and Development Agency, Hestu Yoga Saksama as Director of Counseling, Services and Public Relations (P2Humas) of the Directorate General of Taxes, Sinta Widjaja as Deputy Chairperson of APINDO, Rizal Ramli as a senior economist and Wilgo Zainar as a member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives.
During the four-segment event, we had the incredible experience of seeing and hearing firsthand the opinions of experts and officials regarding tax rate policy. Instead of learning about taxation theoretically in college, we had the incredible opportunity to learn directly from experts. The event, hosted by Brigita Manoharaini, was both exciting and engaging.
We've been on our feet for two days, exploring Jakarta and its hustle and bustle. We've been learning, expanding our knowledge, and gaining experience with several companies in Jakarta. On the third day, we visited two equally large companies. The first was PT Prudential Life Assurance. After breakfast, our group immediately headed to PT Prudential. There, we were warmly greeted by Ms. Eva, a representative from Pru University. She briefly explained the organization, structure, and career path at PT Prudential. Before we could continue, we were offered a box of snacks to quench our hunger.
Then, his friend continued with a discussion about the basic knowledge and superior products of PT Prudential. After that, a representative from the finance department, Ms. Linda, briefly explained the financial system there. Short, interesting, and full of new knowledge, that's what we got there. After that, our activities continued with Friday prayers first. After completing the prayer for women, we continued our journey to KAP Deloitte located in Plaza Indonesia. It was truly an extraordinary experience to be given the opportunity to visit there. We were greeted with warm smiles and full of professionalism. Our session was of course provided with a box of light snacks from KAP Deloitte as our companion in gaining knowledge. We met with Mr. Richard, an Accounting alumnus Universitas Airlangga who has successfully pursued a career at KAP Deloitte, even becoming a partner of KAP Deloitte. We learned many things, starting from KAP Deloitte itself, its advantages, organizational structure, career path, internship path, and tips and tricks for working at KAP Deloitte.
It was late afternoon when we finished our visit to Deloitte. We immediately returned to the hotel, where the participants were free to do their own activities.
We've been greeting Jakarta for three days. There have been ups and downs, hunger and heat are not uncommon, but happiness and laughter have never left us. We've truly gained a diverse experience, new knowledge, and a growing enthusiasm for learning. The warmth of the participants and committee, the friendliness of the company staff, the comfortable shelter, and the delicious food—that's what made Company Visit 2018 different. I really don't know where else to go for this unique and engaging experience.
Upon arriving on the final day, we immediately packed up our belongings and hurried back to Surabaya. We brought with us a wealth of knowledge and experience to share with friends and family who were always in need. Together, we fostered a hopeful future through the knowledge we gained from the 2018 Company Visit.
