The Islamic Economics Undergraduate Study Program, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (EKIS FEB UNAIR Undergraduate Study Program) held a guest lecture on Web 3.0, Metaverse, and Cryptocurrency. By raising the theme "WEB 3.0: The Opportunity of Islamic Economics in Higher Education", the EKIS FEB UNAIR Undergraduate Study Program tried to bridge the development of this issue which was then linked to the Islamic Economics perspective. Not half-hearted, the EKIS FEB UNAIR Undergraduate Study Program deliberately invited an expert directly from Japan, Kazu Harashima, as the Co-Founder of the Ethereum Staking Committee. Don't forget to invite the Founder of Oorth Indonesia as well as the CEO of Startup digital marketing agency Skynosoft, Khrisna Adityanga

The topic of the guest lecture was opened by Mr Kazu by explaining the definition and history of the development of Web 3.0 technology, including the development of blockchain, metaverse and cryptocurrency. He also strongly advised audiences who are interested in the field of entrepreneurship to learn more about this technology considering its very broad potential. On this occasion Kaszu said that "Data will be interconnected in a decentralized way, which would be a huge leap forward to our current generation of the internet (Web 2.0), where data is mostly stored in centralized repositories"

Then, Mr. Khrisna continued the topic of Web 3.0 development by inviting the audience to look at its development in Indonesia and the perspective of Islamic Economics. He emphasized that Islam prioritizes innovation on the condition that you know sharia knowledge. However, technological developments which are often utilized by certain parties mean that Muslims often justify these various forms of innovation as something that is not good. In fact, there are many aspects of Islamic Economics that can be helped through the development of Web 3.0 technology, such as minimizing illegal transactions, making it safer and more private for its users, as well as being humane.

As a result, because it raised a unique topic and was widely discussed in the community, this webinar succeeded in attracting more than 200 participants who came not only from EKIS FEB UNAIR students, but also alumni and students from other universities.

At the end of the event, the guest lecture closed with tips for entering the world in the era of metaverse development, especially the sharia finance and banking industry, delivered by Kindy Miftah as Assistant Vice President for Business Analysis and Sharia Retail Banking from Maybank Syariah. He suggested several suggestions for careers in this industry, especially digital banking as a result of the metaverse development era, namely by developing soft skills and hard skills in fields that have the potential to last a long time, such as the development field and the IT field.
